You are your definition.

I am constantly emphasizing the importance of approaching Human Design as an experiment. It is the anecdote to blindly trusting in any authority outside yourself. Don’t believe me, try it out and verify what’s true for you based on your own lived experience.

That being said, I have studied countless charts, and gathered an abundance of evidence that more often than not, if someone says “that doesn’t sound like me” in response to hearing about their definition (when it’s been explained clearly and correctly), it means that this is a trait that they have been suppressing because they haven’t felt full permission to be themselves.

No matter how authentic we think we’re being, most of us are unconsciously still suppressing elements of who we are, because we’ve been so deeply conditioned to view certain traits as morally superior, and others as morally impermissible.

For example: If you have the Channel of Judgment, you are judgmental. It’s not morally right or wrong, it’s simply the unchangeable truth of who you are! Ideally, you share your perspective on what’s not working only when invited. Then, you can be of service, providing the energy to begin a logical process of correction and making the world around you better and healthier.

If you say “I’m not judgmental!”, that’s not true. And likely, it means you’re trying to deny your true nature and your judgments are coming out sideways and distorted. Or, you’re not successfully fueling correction and improvement in the way you’re designed to. You’re suppressing your genius.

If you have the Channel of Struggle, you are stubborn! It is hilarious to me how often people with this definition stubbornly insist they are not stubborn, and fail to see the irony in this. When you are embracing this quality in yourself and allowing it to express itself in accordance with your Strategy and Authority, this is what empowers your sense of meaning and purpose. If you are pretending to be agreeable, going along with what others want instead of honoring your individuality, it’s likely that you struggle with feeling a lack of purpose in life.

If you have the 39-55, the Channel of Emoting, you are moody! This is part of what makes you so creative, and allows you to provoke passion and emotion in others with your art.

If you have been conditioned to avoid the full range of your highs and lows, trying your best to not appear fickle, moody or irrational- chances are you’re out of touch with your emotional authority and thus not connected to your truth when making decisions. You’re not honoring your nature, which leaves you feeling empty and yearning for spirit.

If you carry the 44-26, you have a big ego and you are a brilliant salesperson. You are gifted at intuiting exactly what people need to hear in order to buy what you’re selling, whether that’s a truth or a product.

You are a trickster who is prone to exaggeration, and there is nothing shameful about this. If you’re following your Strategy & Authority, your transmissions will be correct/clean. Clean doesn’t mean ‘free of ego’. It means that your ego is surrendered to the intelligence of your spleen (your instinct/intuition), and the way you are manipulating others is actually supportive to their success and wellbeing, in addition to your ego’s desire to minimize work and maximize reward 💰 . Frankly, it scares me when I see a 44-26 hooked on spiritual propaganda about being egoless 😂

SO, that is my perspective, and this is how I navigate it with my clients:

Depending on the trust and rapport we have built, and my felt sense regarding the extent to which you are open to receiving information that challenges your conditioned self-concept, I may take your rejection of my explanation as an opportunity to try and peel back another layer, and dig deeper. I may gently and lovingly apply more pressure, to break through whatever false belief your mind might be gripping to. However, if I don’t feel your openness, I may choose to meet you where you’re at and leave it be.

Of course, I am aware that there will actually be times when what I’m telling you about your design is honestly not true (or at least, not helpful) for you. I know I’m not right all the time, even though my definition is such that I sometimes think I am 😜 I am a Manifestor with a very defined head and ajna. My 1st line personality speaks with authority. If you’re my client, you’re opting in to being impacted by my fixed way of thinking. You’re accepting responsibility for filtering my words through your own inner knowing, no matter how persuasive and impactful I may be!

I was born on the Right Angle Cross of Explanation. My personality sun is in gate 23, which reads “Amorality. The awareness and understanding which leads to the acceptance of diversity”. It’s in line 1, Proselytization, “the attempt to undermine one set of values for another”. It’s so funny how accurate and specific mechanics are. This is precisely what I do, all the time. I proselytize about the principles of Human Design, attempting to undermine our conditioned moral judgments about certain traits, and grant permission for the full range of our diversity.

Are there traits that you know are true to who you are, but you still find yourself hesitant to fully own and express?

Or: are there any elements of your definition (gates and channels) that you don’t resonate with? If you’re being honest with yourself, might you be able to see how you’ve been conditioned to think you need to suppress these qualities?
