Sun in Gate 50: Responsibility, Limitation and Freedom

Currently, the sun is in Gate 50: Responsibility.

In the Spleen, Gate 50 instinctively remembers the laws and values inherited from past generations and feels a sense of responsibility to serve as the tribal lawmaker, guarding the values of the tribe. Where is it still supportive to do what our ancestors did, and where is it necessary to break free from tradition and change obsolete laws? 

The earth brings grounding and balance, and here the earth is in Gate 3: Ordering/ Difficulty at the Beginning. This sacral gate has the power to stick with the chaos or confusion that accompanies new beginnings, so that something new and mutative can take form in the world. 

The transits are the cosmic weather. Our lives become less enjoyable when we falsely identify with the weather and make decisions accordingly- instead of making decisions by honoring our Strategy & Authority. 

Under the influence of Gate 50, you might notice yourself feeling a pressure to take on more responsibility, or you might notice an amplified fear of responsibility. In my process, I have been reflecting on the relationship between freedom and responsibility, and how easy it is for the mind to distort our ability to discern which responsibilities will bring freedom, and which will limit it.

Here are some questions to guide your experimentation this week:

What am I currently responsible for taking care of? 

What responsibilities do I find myself wishing I were free from? Would this actually bring me the freedom I crave?

Where might my fear of responsibility be limiting my freedom?

Where in my life am I encountering difficulty at the beginning of a new process, that has potential to bring forth something completely new?

Where have I resigned myself to accepting limitations, instead of accepting responsibility for staying with the process until I transcend the limitations and experience true change in my life? 

Where am I refusing to accept limitations, and creating unnecessary chaos?
