Sixth lines are always seeking perfection
The 6th line in Human Design is the Role Model, and it observes life from above.
Something kind of tricky about the 6th line, is that it is always seeking perfection.
You’re not just looking for your partner, you want your soul mate.
You’re not satisfied with just a career, you want to fulfill your soul’s highest mission.
Why is this tricky? Because as we know about the human experience, sometimes it can take a lot of time and trial and error in order to align to that perfection.
And in the meantime, you’ll have a lot of experiences that just aren’t it.
So you might experience feelings of aloofness and impatience. You may exhibit an unwillingness to truly engage with things because you feel, “Well, what’s the point? If this isn’t my one true love, if this isn’t my life’s ultimate purpose, why even bother?”
To understand this quality, it helps to look at gate 59 line 6.
Gate 59 is the gate of sexuality/intimacy. It is all about breaking through barriers to achieve union.
Each line represents a different role in sexuality, and line 6 is called the “One Night Stand”. It’s either your soulmate, or it’s not!
And when it’s not, it’s the one night stand. This might not mean that it’s a literal one night stand, but it can have that kind of detached energy about it. Maybe you’re dating someone but you’re not fully in it. Maybe you’re cheating. You’re either devoted to your soulmate, or you’re detached. “Why should I take this seriously if this isn’t it?”
You can see this theme wherever you have a 6th line.
For example, I have the 16.6. Gate 16 is the gate of skills. It’s all about the potential to enthusiastically identify with a skill and practice it over and over again in order to achieve mastery.
However, with this in the 6th line, I’m hesitant to get involved with just any skill, I’m looking for the skill. What’s the skill that’s actually going to make a difference in our collective future? Wherever you have a 6th line, it’s focused on the entire circuit. Gate 16 is about perfecting the logical patterns that are taking us into the future as a collective.
So I can sometimes feel, “Why even bother practicing this and learning this, if it’s not going to be the skill that I can use to truly make an impact that is of service to the wellbeing of our collective future?”
Do you have a 6th line in your profile? When you look at your chart, which gates are in the 6th line? I would love to hear your experiences and observations in the comments.
